The Evening Madrassah Isn't Working for Every Family
For generations of British Muslim children, learning the Quran has meant a weekday rush: out of school at 3:15, a quick snack, then two hours at the local madrassah. By the time homework is done it’s late, children are tired, and parents have spent another evening in traffic looking for a parking space.
Many parents tell us the same worries. Classes are large, so one teacher can’t hear every child read. Lessons are often explained in Urdu, Bengali or Arabic while their children think in English, so they learn to repeat words without understanding the rules behind them. And because classes happen out of sight, parents don’t always know how their child is being taught.
Darul Islam Quran Academy was built around those problems. Your child learns at home with one qualified tutor, most of them Huffaz-e-Quran, who explains everything in clear English and corrects each letter as it is read. You choose the days and times, you can listen in whenever you like, and a Monthly Report Card shows exactly what your child has learned.

Lessons That Move With School, Salah and the British Seasons
In the UK, prayer times swing a long way through the year. Maghrib can come before 4 pm in December, while in June Isha may not arrive until late at night. A fixed madrassah timetable can’t keep up with that, but your lessons can. Tell us the days and times you’d like, in UK time, and we’ll assign a tutor for exactly that slot, then change it when the seasons change.
Winter and summer, sorted
In winter, many families book straight after school so lessons finish before Maghrib, with no dark, wet drives home. In summer, when evenings are long, lessons can move later or to weekend mornings. When the clocks change in March and October, your lesson stays at the same UK time. We adjust on our side.
Times UK families often choose
- Straight after school, before it gets dark in winter
- Before school, for early risers and Fajr families
- Weekend mornings, around football and swimming
- After Iftar or before Suhoor during Ramadan

Questions UK Parents Ask Us
My child speaks English at home. Will they understand the lessons?
Yes. Tutors explain every rule in clear English, using examples children recognise, so they understand what they’re reading rather than just repeating sounds.
Can I sit in on my child's lessons?
Of course. Lessons take place at home, so you’re welcome to sit beside your child or listen from the next room at any time. Many parents join the free trial for exactly this reason.
Should this replace our local madrassah or sit alongside it?
Either works. Some families switch completely to save the evening travel. Others keep the madrassah for community and add one-to-one lessons to fix reading or Tajweed.
How do lessons work around Maghrib in winter?
You choose the time, so in winter many families book straight after school to finish before Maghrib. In summer you can move lessons later. Changing your lesson time is simple: just message us.
Do lesson times change when the clocks go forward or back?
No. Your lesson stays at the same UK time all year, through both GMT and BST. We adjust on our side when the clocks change in March and October.
Can my child carry on during SATs or GCSE revision?
Yes. Many students drop to fewer days a week during exam season rather than stopping, so their Quran learning doesn’t slip. You can move back up once exams are over.
Are female tutors available for girls?
Yes. Just mention it when you book your free trial, and we’ll match your daughter with a female tutor.
How much do lessons cost in the UK?
Plans are £25 a month for 2 days a week, £35 for 3 days and £55 for 5 days, with 30-minute one-to-one lessons. Your first class is free.
